Jireh Microfinance distinguished itself at the second edition of the Ghana Accountancy & Finance Awards (2018) held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra. The company won the “Micro Loan Product of the Year” award for its Smart Child Account. The Smart Child Account product seeks to cultivate the culture of savings among Ghanaian children and has an interest-free school fees loan package for parents who subscribe to the account on behalf of their children or wards. The company is the first in the microfinance sector to have won the covetous award. The Managing Director of the company, Mrs Akorfa Ahiafor expressed her joy for the award and gratitude to the Jireh family-the board of directors, management and staff for being part of the success story through their hard work. She also dedicated the award to the Women Entrepreneurs and Leadership for Africa (WELA) and her colleagues who studied at the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), for shaping her ideas with learning experiences while developing the product.

The Ghana Accountancy & Finance Awards was established in 2017 by the Strategic Accountancy Africa. With the approval of the Finance Ministry, the event is organised in partnership with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) to recognise individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of the accounting and finance sectors of the economy.
